All volunteers receive volunteer passes to see free movies with 2 hours of work. (Note: Box Office and Ticket Takers receive a pass with every shift they work).

Available Positions
Lobby supervisor- Want to take on a little more responsibility, gain the praise of volunteers and patrons alike, bathe in the deluge of power and prestige, this is the position for you. Become trained to manage the lobby during events (usually a single movie), work with the theater lobby worker persons and concessionaires, handle keys, money and minimal paperwork. Must come 1 hour before events and stay until the next Super comes (usually a total of 2-2/12 hours). Weekly shifts are ideal or be a sub.

Concessionaires - Dole out the treats and sweets to everyone's delight. Become trained to make popcorn, coffee, sell candy, do elementary math, and maintain a constant sincere smile. Must come 1 hour before events and stay around 1/2 or so to clean up (usually a total of 1-1/12 hours). Weekly shifts are ideal or be a sub.

General office worker - Learn the functions of a nonprofit organization and the ins and outs of dealing with the film industry. Includes data entry, answering the phone, errand running and possibly film booking, ads, publicity, etc. Computer skills nice but not necessary. 5 positions doing 2-3 hrs (or more) a week.

Database Manager - Our database is the most important tool we have to keep in touch with our membership and allied organizations. Help us keep it organized and up-to-date. Computer experience will help.

Community Outreach Organizer - Build a stronger connection between OFS and local organizations, schools and businesses. Includes making contacts and determining possible interest in volunteering with OFS, highlighting films that may pertain to certain groups, laying ground work for facilitating visiting filmmakers; setting up discussions of pertinent topics, etc. 3 positions doing 2-3 hrs (or more) a week.

Field Agents - Run errands in and around Olympia, sometimes further. Drivers, bikers, and pedestrians are all eligible. Each Agent gets a personalized Secret Password!

Program Writers - Get published! Write an article or blurb for the series program.

Membership Liaison - Assist with publishing the series program, expedite the mailing of membership cards, and other timely tasks. Previous office or management experience will come in handy.

Program distributors - Help spread the good word of OFS by distributing our program guide around town and beyond. It's just a few hours every 6 weeks, and its vital to the livelyhood of OFS

Box Office & Ticket Takers - A great way to start out is to volunteer selling and taking tickets. It's easy! All you have to do is go to the sign up calendar board in the lobby and write your name in an open slot. We need two folks per shift, two or three shifts (see schedule) per night, Saturday through Thursday and some odd shows Friday nites. Then just show up 3/4 hour before show time and enjoy yourself. A zillion positions doing 1-2 hrs (or more) a week.

Board of Directors' Secretary - Be an important element in the monthly meetings of the OFS board of directors. Includes calling to arrange meetings, some follow-up, taking and copying of notes and collecting staff reports. Be the first on your block to know the inside dirt and hear what really goes on deep inside the OFS clockworks. 1 position doing 3-5 hrs (or more) a month.

Flyer Designer - Wax some of your wam-zammie graphic pizzazz making flyers for special events at the Capitol Theater. Includes Thursday events, benefits, and extra screenings of films. Also help with "flyering" local cafes and book shops. 2 positions doing 2-3 hrs (or more) a month.
