A Master Class with Editor Kevin Nolting

Join Kevin Nolting, lead editor at Pixar Animation Studios, as he details the years-long intensive editing process that goes into creating a film like Up. This will be a highly technical presentation with much room for questions and discussion—recommended for filmmakers interested in learning about the nuts-and-bolts of a pivotal yet overlooked part of the process. Please contact offprogrammer@ olympiafilmsociety.org with any questions or for further details. A $5 fee will be required for attendance.

Saturday, November 19 2:00 Locals Workin’ It Out!

Is sitting around watching all these movies making you feel a little tubby around the edges? Well, strap on your snazziest exercise gear and let local fitness gurus Lisa Hurwitz and Joaquin de la Puente get your blood pumpin’, abs crunchin’, glutes flexin’, and body healthenin’ with the world premiere of their new workout video, OlyAerobics. Featuring fit sounds from local dance poppers and rock n’ rollers (full lineup to be posted on www.olympiafilmfestival.org), this event will send you back out onto the street with a shredded body to rival that of Richard Simmons himself! Featuring OlyAerobics / 2011 / USA / 35 min / DV Director: Lisa Hurwitz

Sunday, November 20 10:00 Kid’s Animation Workshop with Justin McKaughan

At the 9th Annual Kids Animation Workshop, children ages 5-13 will get a chance to use clay, toys, and other objects to create a short basic animation. Clay will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own toys to animate as well. Animations will be shown in a special free screening at the Capitol Theater at 5:00pm the same day. Animations will also be posted to our YouTube page at www.youtube.com/ofsworkshops, where you can also see past years’ animations.

The workshop costs $5 and pre-registration is required for attendance. Parents must stay with their child during this workshop. You can register an individual or a group of kids who will work on one project together. Registration closes November 17th.
